Nun, dieser Name lässt auf die Vergangenheit dieses kleinen, aber sehr schönen Landes schließen, dessen Bevölkerung bei ungefähr 66.000 Einwohnern liegt. Andorra liegt mitten in den Pyrenäen, es wird umschlossen von Frankreich und Spanien und bildet somit einen Teil der Grenze.
Bei Andorra könnte man sogar von einer politischen Anomalie sprechen, denn es ist nur 464 Quadratkilometer groß und dennoch ein eigener souveräner Staat. Seine erste offizielle Landessprache ist Catalá. Andorras gebirgiges Territorium ist besonders seit den 50er Jahren des letzten Jahrhunderts durch seine Skipisten und auch durch seine dramatisch gelegene Szenerie bekannt geworden. Andorras besonderer Status, seine Unabhängigkeit als Staat trotz seiner geringen Größe ist zurückzuführen auf seine Geschichte. Genau deshalb will ich als erstes folgend seine Geschichte näher darstellen. Diese seine Geschichte beginnt im Jahre 803.
