Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2006 im Fachbereich Ethnologie / Volkskunde, Note: 2,0, Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster (Institut für Ethnologie), Veranstaltung: Revolution und Reform in Laos und Vietnam, 4 Quellen im Literaturverzeichnis, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Nach den Worten Ho Chi Minhs, dem langjährigen Präsidenten der Demokratischen (bis 1976) und der Sozialistischen Republik Vietnams, war der Marxismus-Leninismus für das Volk Vietnams wie „Wasser für einen Reisenden, der Durst hat, wie Reis für einen Armen, der Hunger hat“ . Diese Formulierung, so bildlich sie ist, trägt in sich doch die Idee der kommunistischen Parteistrategen Vietnams, die, überzeugt von ihrer Aufgabe, versuchten, in Vietnam die sozialistische Revolution durchzuführen.
Mit dieser Arbeit soll veranschaulicht werden, welche Forderungen die Regierung Nordvietnams unmittelbar nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg und in der Zeit nach dem Abzug der Franzo-sen an sich selbst, an das Volk und an ihre Gegner stellten, wie diese Absichten propagandistisch formuliert wurden, und inwiefern die sozialistische Entwicklung in Vietnam erfolgreich war. Dazu wird im ersten Teil eine Analyse ausgewählter Schriften der vietnamesischen Revolution vorgenommen, um im zweiten Teil zu sehen, wie sich Vietnam danach wirtschaftlich und politisch entwickelte. Hauptsächlich zurückgegriffen wurde auf das Werk „Dokumente und Materialien der vietnamesischen Revolution“, herausgegeben von Jutta von Freyberg und Kurt Steinhaus, in dem sich verschiedene Dokumente finden, außerdem statistisches Material zur wirtschaftlichen Entwicklung in Vietnam.
Vietnam befand sich nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg in der Situation eines doppelt Bestraften: Fast ein Jahrhundert von den französischen Kolonialisten unterdrückt, dann zusätzlich von den Japanern unterworfen und nach dem Krieg wieder von den Franzosen regiert. Im Norden wurde die Demokratische Republik Vietnam gegründet, aber der Süden blieb unter französischer Verwaltung. Hier entwickelte sich schnell eine Untergrundbewegung wider die herrschenden Verhältnisse. Im Norden aber musste man erstmal mit der wirtschaftlichen Situation klarkommen, bevor man den Kämpfern im Süden beistehen konnte. Aber „die im Verlauf eines jahrzehntelangen Befreiungskampfes erworbene Fähigkeit, die Theorie des Marxismus-Leninismus schöpferisch auf die konkreten Verhältnisse ihres Landes anzuwenden, halfen der Partei der Werktätigen Vietnams und der Regierung der DRV, die komplizierte Situation der fünfziger Jahre zu meistern.“ Nach dem Ende des Zweiten Weltkriegs und der Niederlage der Japaner erklärte Ho Chi Minh als Vorsitzender der „Provisorischen Regierung“ der Demokratischen Republik Vietnam deren Unabhängigkeit.
