1. Einleitung

Diese Arbeit widmet sich den triuwe-Begriffen und der Erprobung der triuwe in KONRADS VON WÜRZBURG Engelhard. Anhand der Formulierung wird hier bereits deutlich, dass es sich nicht um ein einheitliches Verständnis von triuwe handelt, sondern mehrere Ebenen zu unterscheiden sind, je nachdem, ob es sich um ein Treueverhältnis unter Freunden bzw. Liebenden handelt, ein Treueverhältnis zu ständisch Höhergestellten oder zu Gott.
Daher ist es nötig, vorab den Begriff der triuwe im Allgemeinen zu klären, um dann herauszuarbeiten, wie KONRAD diesen Terminus verstanden wissen will, denn bereits im Prolog, einem Loblied auf die triuwe, wird genannt, welche Dinge durch triuwe bewirkt werden können.
Anschließend soll gezeigt werden, welche Arten der triuwe im Engelhard abgehandelt werden und wodurch dies geschieht. Vorrangig wird in dieser Arbeit von zwei triuwe-Verhältnissen ausgegangen. Diese werden im folgenden Abschnitt näher erläutert.
