Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2010 im Fachbereich Soziologie - Medizin und Gesundheit, Note: 1,5, Katholische Universität Eichstätt-Ingolstadt, Veranstaltung: Soziale Kontrolle und abweichendes Verhalten, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Seit Bestehen der Menschheit, gab es schon immer körperliche und geistige Zustände bei Menschen, die als deviant bezeichnet wurden. Sie variierten von Epoche zu Epoche sowohl an der Qualität und Quantität ihres Vorkommens, ihrer Verbreitung und ihrer Auswirkungen. Die Gesellschaften haben verschiedenste Werkzeuge und Mechanismen entwickelt, um der Gesundheit, aber vor allem der Krankheit zu begegnen bzw. entgegenzuwirken. Eine wichtige Rolle spielen neben den Unterschieden im Laufe der Zeit auch regionale Bedingungen, die völlig andere Definitionen der beiden Begriffe hervorbrachten und somit auch in den jeweiligen sozialen Netzwerken zu anderen Sichtweisen führten. Jede Gesellschaft definiert für sich eine eigene Norm. Während in den westlichen Industrienationen z.B. vor allem eine Fülle an definierten psychischen Krankheiten besteht, die je nach Schwere einer dringenden oder gar aufoktroyierten Behandlung bedürfen, sind schizophrene oder epileptische Wesenszüge in afrikanischen Naturstämmen Zeichen einer Gabe, einer großen Gottverbundenheit und damit wichtige Katalysatoren für eine hierarchische Stellung innerhalb eines Stammes. Die Auffassung, was als deviant bezeichnet wird, ergibt sich oftmals aus dem „gesunden Menschenverstand“(Abel 2007: 9) der jeweiligen Gesellschaft, der die „Denkweise einer Zeit [ist], in der alle Vorurteile dieser Zeit enthalten sind.“ (Hegel 1833: 435)
In dieser Zusammenfassung sollen Probleme der Begriffsdefinition von Gesundheit und Krankheit herausgestellt, sowie verschiedene soziologische Theorien zur Materie beschrieben werden. Aufgrund der begrenzten Seitenzahl werde ich versuchen nur das Wichtigste der jeweiligen Themengebiete darzustellen und Wiederholungen möglichst zu vermeiden oder, gekennzeichnet mit einem Verweis, abzukürzen.
