Im Kapitel 1 wird in das Thema eingeführt, der strukturierte Aufbau der Arbeit in den einzelnen Kapiteln erläutert und das Ziel beschrieben.
In Kapitel 2 werden die Grundlagen der Motivation erläutert, der Führungsbegriff, und die Führungsfunktionen. Die unterschiedlichen Managertypen werden gegenübergestellt, ebenso wie die differenzierten Menschenbilder.
Im Kapitel 3 werden die Motivationsbegriffe, die Definitionen, die Unterschiede der verschiedenen Motivationsarten, die Arbeitsmotivation sowie der Ausgangspunkt der Human Realtions beschrieben.
In Kapitel 4 werden die Motivationstheorien innerhalb der unterschiedlichen Ansatzvarianten erläutert. Hierbei wird auf die Theorien der bedeutendsten Wissenschaftler zurückgegriffen, die sich jahrzehntelang mit den Kerninhalten der Motivation beschäftigten, aber dennoch teilweise widersprüchliche Modelle aufgestellt haben.
In Kapitel 5 werden abschließend die wichtigsten Motivations- und Anreizsysteme herausgearbeitet. Vor allem in der Gesamtheit ist das Wissen um die Anwendbarkeit der Motivation eine große Hilfe für den Vorgesetzten, da daraus viele positive Rückschlüsse auf bestehende und zukünftige Verhaltensweisen zu ziehen sind.
In Kapitel 6 wird aus den in dieser Arbeit gewonnenen Erkenntnissen eine Zusammenfassung erstellt und alles mit einem sich daraus ergebenden Fazit abgeschlossen.
