Controlling, ein Instrument zur ergebnisorientierten Unternehmenssteuerung und langfristigen
Existenzsicherung, hat sich in der heutigen Zeit, bedingt durch die teilweise schlechte
Wirtschaftslage, zu einer festen Institution in den Unternehmen entwickelt. Es gibt kaum ein
Unternehmen, das keine eigene Abteilung oder zumindest einen Angestellten hat, die/der für
das Controlling verantwortlich ist.
Nonprofit-Organisationen (NPOs) spielen im wirtschaftlichen, sozialen und kulturellen Leben
moderner Gesellschaften eine wichtige Rolle. Sie benötigen ein ganzheitliches
Controllingsystem, um gegen heutige Gegebenheiten gerüstet zu sein wie zum Beispiel der
zunehmenden Globalisierung, Misslagen in der Wirtschaft oder der immer stärker
wachsenden Konkurrenz.

Das Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, die Bedeutung und Anwendung des Controllings besonders für
den deutschen Nonprofit-Sektor herauszustellen, controllingspezifische Gegebenheiten zu
analysieren und Zukunftstrends zu veranschaulichen. Es soll so festgestellt werden, ob und
wie, aber auch warum Controlling Einzug in NPOs finden soll. Außerdem soll untersucht
werden, inwieweit und welche Instrumente des Controllings Einzug in NPOs finden und
welche Bedeutung das Rechnungswesen im Bezug zum Controlling hat.

Im Rahmen dieser Arbeit kann jedoch nicht auf alle Sichtweisen von Nonprofit-
Organisationen eingegangen werden, die betriebswirtschaftliche, ökonomische und andere
Sichtweisen werden nicht behandelt. Ich beschränke die Arbeit auf den deutschsprachigen
Raum im Hinblick auf das Controlling in den NPOs. Außerdem gehe ich nicht auf alle
Instrumente des Controllings ein, sondern habe die Auswahl so getroffen, dass diese, welche
ich gewählt habe, auf NPOs anwendbar sind.

Um diese Aufgabenstellung bestmöglich erarbeiten zu können, beginne ich damit, einen
umfassenden Überblick über das Controlling zu geben, angefangen bei der geschichtlichen
Entwicklung hin zu den verschiedenen Instrumenten, im Anschluss daran ... (um weiterzulesen = Bachelorarbeit KAUFEN!)
